沒有RADIOHEAD,沒有想像過的現在_『Fitter Happier』歌詞翻譯

譯註:

這是一首用符號片語與機械人聲構成的隱藏歌,在〈ok computer〉這張經典專輯裡。但卻也幾乎是平時大家不太會注意到的一首歌。不過我真的認為,樂團本身可能真的沒有把這歌當歌看。說是詩,或許還貼切一點。許多片語聯想很深。和〈猜火車〉的片頭那首詩,似乎都有著一樣的時代反諷性。讓人很感興趣。

第一次嘗試翻譯是在2008年春初,尚在《ppaper》雜誌社工作時。某個白天坐在辦公室因為文案卡住而突然興起翻譯的念頭。當時我的後頭坐著公認整個team最好的文案,尤記得和她討論片刻這首歌,但印象中只對於結尾的豬在籠子裡有點興趣。

然而2008年春天,翻譯完這首歌卻突然好像讓人想起很多這個社會上被遺忘的點子似的。我突然發現很多創作的動機其實應該可以這樣而不需要那樣,很多文體的表現應該可以這樣而不必那樣。然後我突然發現了後來那張〈kid A〉甚至更後來的〈there there〉裡頭很多有趣的連結。

它讓我發現了我可以用片語勾勒意識,讓意識轉換畫面,讓整體成為故事。用我們口語的,社會化的,甚至粗暴的方式。然後重要的是,要盡可能簡短。

這些過程後來間接影響了我在開展餐館的很多外在細節。從各種可見的文字與印刷物上。直到現在仍是。



謝謝搖滾誌給了這機會讓我重新把這歌翻出來。

對我來說,這真的不只是一首歌而已。
